Garmin Redefines Flight Displays and Engine Monitoring Systems

Garmin International Inc., a division of Garmin Ltd., has introduced touchscreen flight displays – G600TXi, G500 TXi and G700TXi along with the new EIS (Engine Information System) TXi. Possessing a clear touchscreen design and vivid presentation, the TXi family comes with an improved situational awareness tool and innovative feature that are placed in a modern avionics platform.

The three displays offer optimum flexibility for panel configurations in landscape and portrait orientation. One of the three displays are available with a large 10.6-inch screen, whereas the rest two versions feature a 7-inch screen each. While the 10.6-inch display can be used as a multi-function display (MFD), primary flight display (PFD) and a secondary integrated engine information system (EIS); the 7-inch portrait displays can operate any one of these functions. Besides, 7-inch landscape display is solely available to function as EIS.

The G500 TXi displays are designed for Part 23 Class I/II aircraft that weigh under 6,000 lbs. Similarly, the G600 TXi displays are designed for Class III aircraft weighing not more than 12,500 lbs. Weighing above 12,500 lbs, the G700 TXi is only available for Part 23 Class IV/Part 25 aircraft.

The company targets to receive the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval for the G600 TXi/G500 TXi as well as for EIS TXi in the fourth quarter of 2017. Once approved, the company will showcase an approved model list (AML) of models and makes of over 600 twin-engine pistons, single-engine piston as well as turboprop aircraft that, according to the company, are one of the most configurable, feature-packed glass flight display units currently available in the market.
