Case 1: You have enabled multiple GPS tracking modes

Make sure your device is not in GLONASS mode. If you want to save the battery’s life set into standard GPS tracking mode. As your device will not try to link 2 satellites and will ultimately save your battery from draining fast.


  • Press and hold the action key on the right side of your device.
  • Go to the System settings> Sensors> GPS.
  • Now toggle the switch for GLONASS to turn it off.

iOS users, follow:

  • Go to the settings of your application and then to the notification center.
  • Now, scroll down to Vivoactive section.
  • In here, turn on only those items for which you wish to receive notifications and turn off for the rest.

Android users, follow:

  • Go to the Garmin Connect Mobile Application.
  • Open its settings.
  • In here, turn on only those items for which you wish to receive notifications and turn off for the rest.

Case 3: You keep the backlight on for a long time

To turn it off, follow:

  • Press and hold the action key on the right side of your device.
  • Go to system settings> Backlight.
  • Now, you can adjust under what conditions, the backlight of your device will turn on.
  • Even you can set the timeout to determine when the backlight will shut off.

Case 2: The Auto Pause is on

Automatically, the Auto pause mode stops recording timing and data when it senses paused movement or a slow pace. In other words, there will be no history for this particular time period.

  • At first, press and hold the action key on the right side of your device.
  • Choose your appropriate action, such as swimming or running.
  • Now Select Auto Pause. In here, you will get 3 options:
    • Stopped: Automatically, pauses the timer when you are not moving.
    • Pace: Automatically, pauses the timer when it senses that your pace is slower than the specified value.
    • Speed: Automatically, pauses the timer when it senses your running speed is slower than the specified value.
  • Now, make sure that the settings of the Auto pause are not faster than your normal speed or pace. Otherwise, it will not collect your data if you go slower than the specified speed/pace.

Case 3: The Heart Rate Monitor is unregistered

You do not get proper readings when your heart rate monitor is not registered properly with your Vivoactive device. For proper registration, follow:

  • At first, activate the sensors in your Garmin device by putting on the heart rate monitor.
  • Now, bring your device closer to your sensor.
  • Press and hold the action key on the right side of your device.
  • Go to System> Sensor> Add a new sensor. (If there is a device already registered, remove it from the list)

You have non-responsive screen
